I photographed this Cadillac closely, concentrating on the radiating dark fins, pointed centre, and crest beside them. Black and white makes the bright ring and its reflected shapes especially clear against the deeper shadow below the car.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI like the way the large circle dominates without filling every part of the frame. The smaller Cadillac badge sits to the left, giving the photograph a second point of recognition. Around both, the painted panel changes direction through broad curves and sharper edges, with little surface detail to compete with the chrome.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe reflections keep the metal from becoming a uniform bright shape. Darker marks cross the outer rim, while the centre reflects light differently on each side of the pointed form. The narrow fins provide a repeated pattern between them. That movement from smooth rim to fine divisions and back to reflective curves is what holds my attention.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI worked close enough to let this part of the vehicle become a subject on its own. The frame offers a strong geometric arrangement while still retaining the Cadillac's identity through the crest and surrounding bodywork. Looking longer reveals smaller changes in tone across the metal. Black and white keeps the nearer horn centre clear while the dashboard and instruments soften behind it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe window frame crosses the left side of the wheel, making the viewpoint part of the composition. I like that small interruption: it retains the feeling of looking into a car from outside. The pale rim curves through the upper half, while the narrower chrome horn ring forms another arc below. Around the centre, reflections change from bright edges to darker patches. Those shifts give the metal depth and prevent the badge from becoming only a flat symbol.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFarther inside, the dashboard introduces a different structure. Horizontal trim and a grid of openings sit between rounded instrument shapes, with the column-mounted lever adding a diagonal. I kept those details softer because the wheel was what first held my attention, but they still provide enough information to place it within the cockpit. Looking at the photograph, I can move from the sharply defined crest into the quieter background and back again. The rounded roof, window surrounds, door handles, and front fender remain part of the view. Their curves guide the eye toward the openings, where the wheel and ribbed upholstery introduce details at a smaller scale.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe darker car gives the background a useful outline. Its windows and roof echo parts of the foreground sedan without becoming equally prominent. I like that repetition because it adds depth while keeping the nearer vehicle easy to read. Reflections across the pale panels create gentle changes of tone rather than a single flat surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhat caught my attention in the collection was the invitation offered by those open windows. They allow the photograph to move between outside and inside, from the larger shape of the sedan to the seat and wheel within it. I wanted to retain both views together. Their repeated curves sit beneath the angled fin, and each lens catches light slightly differently. The chrome surround joins them to the body, carrying reflections from the upper edge down toward the lower frame.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe longer trim line draws the eye away from that close focal point and into the bodywork on the right. It gives the image direction without requiring a view of the whole car. The pale panels offer a quieter surface beside the shinier metal, while the softened background lets the outline remain clear.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI worked close because the relationship between the fin and the lights was what interested me. From one viewpoint, they become a compact arrangement of points, curves, and diagonals; looking longer reveals the smaller lines within the lenses and the changes across the reflected surfaces. Monochrome brings those details together. The arrangement is full of circles, but the long hood line gives all that rounded detail a different direction to follow.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eMy frame centres on the relationship between the lights and the metal around them. Each headlight has its own bright surround, while the bumper below projects forward in a pair of rounded housings. Reflections run across those polished surfaces, bending around their edges and breaking into smaller shapes along the grille.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe tire matters to the composition too. Its broad white band curves up the left side, setting a simpler shape beside the much busier front end. Behind the lights, the hood becomes a wide area of softer grey. A narrow ornament runs down its centre, catching just enough light to draw my eye back toward the top of the photograph.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI enjoy finding this much structure in a small section of a car. Close framing makes familiar parts feel almost sculptural: glass becomes a repeated texture, chrome becomes a surface for reflections, and a whitewall becomes a clean arc.
