Curves dominate the left and lower areas, while the tower above the screen carries a regular grid of windows. Trees add finer, irregular marks along the right edge. His capped head appears to lean around the edge of the doorway, creating a playful detail on the brick wall. I photographed the storefront in 2021, bringing that artwork together with the window and the entrance beside it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe window occupies much of the left side of the frame. Its horizontal divisions separate layers of display items and reflections from the street outside. Some objects are easy to pick out, while others blend with the reflected buildings and a vehicle. I like that overlap because it makes the glass feel busy without taking away from the simpler painted figure on the right.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBetween those two areas, a tall door and pale downpipe create strong vertical lines. The dark beam above them meets the lighter brickwork at an angle. Lower down, uneven paving and the base of the wall add rougher textures to the scene. These ordinary parts of the storefront give the artwork a recognizable urban setting.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBlack and white links the wall painting, display and reflections through tone. The boy’s dark clothing stands out against the pale brick, while the window contains a denser range of greys. For me, the photograph captures the appeal of noticing one small detail within a city street. I like how that fine pattern changes as the canopy moves away from the camera, becoming tighter and less distinct along the curve. Slim supports connect it to the ground, while trees and open park space make a quieter band beneath the surrounding architecture.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe buildings introduce another scale and rhythm. Window grids and sharp rooflines rise into the open sky, their straight edges contrasting with the pavilion’s continuous bend. Black and white gives the canopy a deep tone, allowing the bright perforations and reflective tower faces to stand out clearly.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eFor me, this photograph is about looking at familiar city elements from a position that changes their relationship. The park structure feels expansive overhead, while the towers become a group of angled shapes beyond it. In this vertical composition, the small bright openings occupy a large part of the image, giving the structure an almost star-like pattern.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI like how the curved edge gathers the scene together. It travels from high above the camera, bends towards the buildings and continues across the lower part of the frame. Panel seams introduce longer lines among the points of light, while an opening near the upper left reveals another structural detail. The photograph offers several scales of pattern within the same surface.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBelow, slender supports descend towards the park. Trees, grass and small seats keep the view connected to a public place at ground level. The towers bring straight sides and repeating window grids into the open area inside the canopy’s curve.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBlack and white suited my interest in these relationships of light, shape and structure. The dark overhead surface makes the bright openings clear, and the tower faces provide another range of tones. For me, the photograph encourages the act of looking up and noticing how a designed space changes from beneath it. A glass tower reaches inward from the right, while a larger windowed building rises from below. On the left, more decorative stonework adds another kind of detail. I like seeing these buildings share the same space without losing the individual patterns that distinguish them.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eStanding beneath them made me feel small, but also closely connected to the architecture overhead. Black and white strengthens that impression by concentrating on lines and light. Window grids, projecting ledges and darker glass create a range of textures, while the smooth sky provides a pause between them. The converging perspective gives the picture its energy without requiring a busy street scene.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis vertical photograph would suit an office, modern living space or collection of city architecture. It offers both a recognizable Dallas setting and a more abstract arrangement of diagonals and grids.
