Broken Television at an Abandoned Ontario Motel Black and White Photography
A Discarded Screen Before Graffiti and Dense Growth
A broken television stands on the rough ground in front of an abandoned motel in Ontario. Its empty screen opening is the first clear shape in the foreground, surrounded by loose pieces and a trailing cable. Behind it, trees and climbing growth partly conceal a brick wall marked with graffiti. I wanted the photograph to bring those different surfaces together: the hard rectangular television, the patterned brickwork and the irregular leaves spreading across the building.
A skull shaped piece of graffiti remains visible on the left wall, while a pale arched surround marks an opening farther to the right. The roof edge is damaged above it, exposing a darker gap. These details make the building’s condition visible without needing to explain how it reached that state. In black and white, the television’s casing and the broken screen create a strong tonal anchor beneath the much finer texture of the foliage.
The vertical frame gives the discarded object room in the foreground while retaining the motel and a strip of sky above. I find the relationship between those layers more interesting than any single detail alone. The television suggests an indoor object displaced into the open, and the growth changes how the architecture can be seen. This print would suit an interest in abandoned places, graffiti or photographs of weathered surroundings, offering a specific scene that rewards attention to its many textures.

About My Fine Art Photography
Every photograph in my collection comes from my own travels, explorations, and years behind the camera.
I create my work as photographic art rather than mass-produced decoration. From street portraits and abandoned places to landscapes, architecture, and the unusual subjects I discover along the way, each image begins with something that made me stop and look.
My photographs are available in multiple sizes so the same image can work in anything from an intimate wall space to a large statement installation.
