Together they make a loose pattern across the lower frame. Farther away, the sailboats become smaller marks rather than individual subjects, creating a gentle shift in scale from the nearest dinghies to the harbor beyond.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe rocks lead toward a cluster of shoreline buildings, keeping the scene connected to land. Above them, a broad layer of clouds fills much of the sky, with patches of blue showing through. I left that sky in the composition because its softer texture balances the sharper boats and rocky edges below.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eWhat stays with me is the space the anchorage offers. It has plenty of detail, but nothing crowds the foreground or interrupts the view across the bay. The photograph brings together several familiar parts of coastal New England—small boats, low shores, waterfront homes—without asking any one of them to carry the whole scene. The building has the proportions of a place made for people, yet the surrounding landscape is much larger than it. Diagonal shadows cross the upper wall and the area around the shutters, softening the strong horizontal movement of the lettering. The door’s metal grille repeats a different kind of line, smaller and more restrained. Keeping those architectural details in the photograph gives the graffiti a setting and a scale.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis is street art seen through my camera, with its surrounding surface still fully present. The nearest animal is sharply defined, its curved horns and dark body carrying real weight against the softer landscape, while the others recede into blur behind it. That separation is what gives the image its depth.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI wanted the photograph to feel quiet rather than dramatic. The subdued, almost monochrome treatment removes much of the distraction of colour and lets shape, texture and repetition do the work. The foreground buffalo becomes the anchor, but the animals behind it matter just as much.
