A dark opening remains behind the figure, while the lighter plaster gives her head and shoulder a clear edge. Her shadow falls onto that surface, repeating the outline of her face and adding a second shape within the frame.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe wall carries fine marks, scratches and uneven tones. Those details contrast with the shirt’s more regular checks and the softer folds below. I wanted the environment to remain visible because it was part of what stopped me during the walk, not simply a backdrop for the face.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBlack and white brings the light and textures together without competing colour.
