The door is partly open at the left, while a dark metal grille covers the inner opening. Beside it, a closed red window has its own iron bars. I like the slight imbalance between them: the doorway is taller and busier, while the window gives the eye a quieter shape to settle on. Across the top, weathered moulding and a yellow wall add warmer, less even bands of colour. A narrow pavement runs below, bringing the composition back to street level.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eLooking closely reveals rough plaster, peeling edges and small variations in the green paint. Those marks make this a particular place, photographed as I found it, with its strong colour doing most of the work.
