Along the right edge, several upright stems stand close together; on the left, branches lean into the opening. I like the way the two sides echo each other without becoming symmetrical. The foreground is comparatively clear, so the eye has a place to rest before following the finer lines farther into the scene.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSnow changes how this forest reads. Small branches that might otherwise disappear into the background become visible through their pale outlines, while the ground loses much of its usual detail. My photograph brings those two effects together: intricate edges surrounding a broad, quiet centre.
