Its pointed top stands clearly against the night sky, while the lower skyline forms a continuous band of light along the river.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI like the variety of shapes gathered beneath the tower. Rectangular window grids sit beside curved glass, lower rooflines and a pale riverside facade. Two cranes on the left add thin diagonal marks against the sky. The Shard gives the view its main vertical, but the smaller buildings supply much of its texture and rhythm.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI used a long exposure to soften the water, allowing the architectural detail to remain the centre of attention. Reflections gather into broad, quiet patches below the shore. The warm monochrome treatment connects the glass, stone and sky through a restrained range of tones, giving the light a gentle warmth without making it overpower the buildings.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis cityscape photograph works naturally above a sofa or a long cabinet, where the broad skyline can be appreciated. It suits an office or living room with warm wood and neutral materials.
